The facility serves Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George, and the City of Fredericksburg and is managed by the Rappahannock Regional Jail Authority, which consists of three members from each participating locality.

Spotsylvania County Visitation Rules and Schedules

Inmates from Spotsylvania County in the Rappahannock Regional Jail may receive visits from family and friends. This facility uses a video-based system for all personal visits to inmates. The system accommodates both onsite and at-home video visits.

Visits to an inmate must be scheduled at least 24 to 72 hours in advance on the Web Scheduler. Individuals will have to create an account before they can schedule a visit.

Potential visitors should take the following into account:

  • Inmates are allowed to receive only one 45-minute visit per week, so multiple slots cannot be reserved in the same week.
  • Visits can only be scheduled from Monday to Friday. For at-home visitation, the visit must be scheduled to happen between 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. (EST Time Zone).
  • Inmates who have not stayed up to 72 hours in jail are not eligible for visits to allow for their classification and placement in a specific cell. In some cases, the classification process may last longer than 72 hours, leading to visitors receiving an error message when they try to schedule a visit. The error message will be lifted once the inmate has been settled in their housing.

  • Inmates are prohibited from receiving any personal items during a visit.

Mailing and Commissary Information

The Rannahannock Regional Jail allows inmates to communicate with family and friends by mail. As of July 1, 2023, the jail officially prohibits individuals from sending inmate correspondence directly to the facility. Instead, the jail partners with a third-party vendor that receives this correspondence and reviews it before delivering the content digitally to the inmate via tablet.

Individuals who want to send correspondence to an inmate in the Rannahannock Regional Jail should ensure the mail is addressed correctly and includes their full name and address in the top left corner of the envelope. Individuals should not send the originals of any document via mail, as all mail is destroyed after it has been scanned and sent to the jail. If an inmate needs to receive the original of a document (e.g., a birth certificate), individuals should contact the Inmate Services Division via email.

Nevertheless, money orders, checks, and publications, such as books, magazines, and newspapers, should be sent directly to the facility. Senders should note that inmates must obtain prior authorization from jail administration before receiving books. Furthermore, all books must be soft-backed and sent to the facility directly from the publisher.

Senders are advised to review the jail facility’s list of prohibited items before mailing correspondence to an inmate.
